I am slowly catching up on all of the grading. I have graded all of the newsletter and regraded all of the intro letters, scans, and EdTechProfiles. Please check your inbox and your grades to ensure you have a grade or something returned to your inbox. I should also finish grading all of the Delicious assignments before class time. My goal is to be caught up on TaskStream and the journals by class time next week!!
Today: I will answer any questions on the PowerPoint/Prezi assignment. We will create a collaborative rubric to grade the PowerPoints next week.
Afternoon class rubric
Evening Class Rubric
We will also look at Classroom 2.0 ning network and explore a web 2.0 tool that you might want to use on our classroom. This will count as its own assignment as well as journal 6!
Journal 6: This will be the Classroom 2.0 assignment. Instructions will be given in class.
Journal 7: "The Beginners Guide to Interactive Virtual Field Trips," by Jan Zanetis. This is from the March 2010 issue of L&L
This Week's Question: What is something you learned well without a teacher? How did you learn it? This could be a sport, game, etc. . .
I have learned how to play volleyball but that kind of has a teacher because different coaches have taught me throughout my time of playing. I have learned how to play each and every position on the court except middle blocker. I have also learned a lot about what it takes to be a trainer at sea world and have done a lot of on the job training there. I have had to learn for myself since this was my original career path and wanted to know more about the various animals behind the scenes. I learned how to pill fish, how to take care of the marine mammals and how to observe their behavior to understand their individual needs, comforts and frustrations.
ReplyDeleteI learned to snowboard by myself by practicing.

ReplyDeleteI have taught myself how to cook. I always used to watch my mom cook when I lived at home, and so now that I'm living on my own, I have kinda just taught myself.
ReplyDeleteI learned how to draw by myself by practice and by being very visual.
ReplyDeleteI learned how to play basketball by myself. My coaches when I was young didn't really teach me much because they thought I was a lost cause (I was skinny and awkward) but I just kept practicing and watching people and forming my shot and eventually I grew into my body. :)
ReplyDeleteI learned how to wrap wire and make various kinds of jewelry without a teacher. It is strange. I have always loved geology and I was always fascinated by rocks. This past summer I was unable to find work and my sister was making jewelry. So I gave it a try, and fell in love with the process. Not to mention I always make an impressive finished piece. Now it has become something of a lucrative hobby.
ReplyDeleteI learned to play the piano on my own. I'm hardly a pro, but I figured out the basic science/art behind it. My sister was the one who took lessons - maybe I learned with her by listening as she got better.
ReplyDeleteI learned how to cook with out a teacher. I used to watch Food network religiously. But I never got any recipes from them. It was the only thing worth watching on TV. I think I absorbed the ability to cook by watching these shows. I sort of just put everything together or got ideas for recipes from the internet.
ReplyDeleteI have learned how to cook various things, while watching my mom and dad, and I'm pretty good at it = ).
ReplyDeletei have taught myself how to cook as well!!! still in the process of learning thoughlol!
ReplyDeleteI learned how to play basketball. I jut practiced a lot and felt what was comfortable and just kept doing it. I still play on a weekly basis. I love everything about it, it's my comfort.
ReplyDeleteI learned how to bake by experience and looking up recipes online. I also watched my mom bake a lot when I was younger.
ReplyDeleteUntil I took this class, I basically taught myself everything I know about using a computer. Other than basic typing programs I used as a child to help my typing skills, I never took any sort of technology class

ReplyDeleteI learned photoshop on my own when I was trying to put together a baby book.
ReplyDeleteto weave a rug from a retired climbing rope. :) i used a diagram and some instructions online. okay, so i haven't actually finished yet...
ReplyDeleteI learned how to bake and cook without a teacher. I like to experiment in the kitchen.
ReplyDeleteI taught myself how to wakeboard many years ago. Growing up on a lake and having parents that only knew how to ski, I was forced to teach myself if I wanted to learn. I did this by watching fellow wakeboarders on the lake and by practicing until I finally got it down.
ReplyDeleteIt would have to be catching a baseball with a glove. I had a bet with my dad that if I learned by myself he would have to sign me up to play in a league. By the age of 7 I was catching a baseball by myself and have been playing organized baseball ever since.
ReplyDeleteBuild any Lego creation known to man. It was a requirement as the mom of three boys...
ReplyDeleteI have mastered the art of composting by trial and error. Hmm, also gardening and cooking by watching others and reading books.
ReplyDeleteI learned how to play the guitar through lots of practice and sore fingers.
ReplyDeleteit would be inappropriate for me to say.
ReplyDeleteI learned my incredible fashion sense on my own, I think! And...in school I learned attention to detail on my own. I've always had the drive to do things my best and I don't believe that was taught to me by a teacher (maybe my parents though who are teachers)!!
ReplyDeleteI learned how to play volleyball on my own. I would practice and watch volleyball on t.v until I knew how to play and what the rules were.
ReplyDeleteI learned origami when I was 14. My dad brought back books and paper from Japan and everything was in Japanese so I could only learn from the pictures.
ReplyDeleteI tried teaching myself Russian just for fun, but, as you can imagine, it kinda fizzled out and I hardly remember any of it now
ReplyDeleteI have learned gardening on my own over time. I love the mix of different colors of flowers and the way they bloom at different times of the year. Each day, I love to walk around my backyard to see the changes, and weed, of course. Right now, lots of the flower bulbs are sprouting. In a month, my backyard will look spectacular.
ReplyDeleteI learned to draw well by studying faces on my own but learned how to use Conte Crayons, a chalk like substance, to make different tones of shading from a teacher at Palomar College in a head drawing class. It was awesome!
ReplyDeleteI learned how to ski on my own. I think it is great to learn by trial and error. I had watched many great skiiers on TV growing up and of course been on the slopes a lot. As long as it is something you really want to do and like doing it is fun!
