This week's question: Who was your favorite teacher in school? What made her/him so memorable for you?
I have a few but one of my favorites teacher was my high school physics teacher, Mrs. McGreevey. She was so memorable because she made learning fun, there were a lot of group activities, and she was just a big goofball that was totally understanding of our situations and needs. She was AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteI have two favorite teachers: Mr. Canaletti (my drama teacher) and Ms. Bachmann (my English teacher). Both teachers were very enthusiastic about the course material, had us engage in fun and unique projects and really pushed me to achieve my highest academic potential :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite teacher was my 11th grade honors lit, Mr. Anderson. He was a first year teacher, but he lead really great discussions and caused everyone to think and reflect on the reading. He taught us how to look deeper to understand challenging books, and that has really impacted my college experience, as there is alot of reading.
ReplyDeleteI have had quite a few great teachers throughout my life. I would say my favorite was my high school science teacher Mrs. Murphy. She was so much fun and actually made class exciting. We would do labs and activities constantly so we could have hands on learning. For halloween she did a whole class session of crazy science stuff it was so much fun!
ReplyDeletemy favorite teacher was Mr. Basantes, he was my fourth grade teacher eventhough he gave us a lot of assignments to do i was able to learn so much, i learned all of my multiplication tables very well thanks to him and we just had so many learning games in his class that really helped us be engaged have fun and effectively learn!!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite teacher was my art teacher from my sophmore year to senior year in highschool. He really taught me everything I know about art and led my direction into art & tech.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite teacher was Mr. Hill, he was my 10th grade English teacher and then my 11th grade history teacher. His class was always fun and his lessons were always interesting, he made sure everyone participated and was involved in class activities or discussions.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite teacher was my seventh and eight grade TA/ English teacher, Mrs. Kenny. Not only did I have her for both my TA and English, but my teacher for the after school program I was in. Having a teacher for 3 classes a day for two years was not as bad as it sounds. Mrs. Kenny was a lot of fun and made the entire class laugh and smile every day. My friends all told me that I was lucky to even have her for one class. I'd have to say that Mrs. Kenny's enthusiasm to teach had a major role in my decision to become a teacher.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite teacher in school was my second grade teacher, Mrs. Gibbs. So many of my great friends to this day were in that class, and she always made it so fun. I remember she had a sleepover for us one weekend in her classroom and set out the telescope so we could see the stars and stuff. I loved her!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite teacher was Mrs. Photos. She was my second grade teacher. She made learning fun, she let us have school pets that we got to take home on the weekends. She also was having a baby when we were in her class and we gave her a baby shower. She was the best.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to pick, but a definite favorite would have to be Mrs. Moreland. She, myself, and a handful of other students became rather close during our senior year. We called ourselves her "red-headed step-children" and her our step-mother.
ReplyDeleteI have had a lot of great teachers throughout my educational experience. However, one really impacted me and stood out; My PE 203 professor last semester, Professor Laura Ghetaldi. She has such a passion for children, and making a difference in her student's lives, and you can really tell she loves what she does!
ReplyDeleteWell when I think about teachers and school.... many of my favorites came after K-12. There is one teacher here at CSUSM.... Karen Eso! She was great... she always has great energy and used a lot of real word examples to explain info. She is is very funny also, and will use every moment in class to get students to think about alternative perspectives. It was also funny when I took her for a human sexuality! lol
ReplyDeleteI have had several favorite teachers but the one I think impacted me more was my 12th grade english teacher, Mr.Razo. He impacted me because he was such a hard grader and he did not have favorite students. Everyone in his class atleast got 2 F's in their papers. But it was his tough ways that made me be successful my first year of college. He had very high expectations for everyone. he has been the toughest teacher I have had.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite elementary teacher was Mrs. Benitez. She always made math fun. I always felt welcomed in her classroom.
ReplyDeleteI had about 3 favorite teachers so far. One of them was Mrs. Tupper. She was my teacher during my middle school years. She was kind. I could tell that she truly loved her job and wanted us to succeed. Her door was always open, she provided great feedback, and she had many teaching styles (which made teaching fun). She was very organized and professional. She is one of those teachers that teaches you techniques that will last you a lifetime. She surpassed the expectations of a teacher. I keep in touch with her till this day :)
ReplyDeleteI'm sure I had a lot of good teachers over the years. Jeff Heil would be on the list. My high school algebra teacher was a ok math teacher, but he really was good at teaching music. Once in a while he'd go off topic and give us interesting mini-music lessons. His Name was Mr. Ballzer. aka: Mr. Hollands Opus. Yes, he taught drivers ed during the summer and composed music for extra money.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite teacher was my third grade teacher Mrs. Lopez! She was fun and creative with every activity and she is the reason I became a strong reader and continue to love reading today.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Teacher was in 8th grade English and history. Her name was Mrs. Cavanaugh. She was so witty and so funny and made learning fun, even history. She got to know her students on a personal level and cared about them all deeply. By far coolest lady ever.
ReplyDeleteMy high school drawing teacher. He helped me understand the power of changing perspectives by having us draw not with lines but filling in where there was no light.
ReplyDeleteMy second grade teacher, Mrs. Fuson was my favorite because she was always very sweet, beautiful and talented. I looked up to her in how she conducted herself and how she was able to invite the class to her wedding, she married a handsome young Pastor and the next year she showed me her adorable twins.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite teacher was Mr. John Swafford. I think many of us were able to connect with him because he was close in age to our generation. I had him for Freshman English, Junior and Senior English, and I was his Aide for 2 years. His passion for his job and his subject (English) inspired me and is one of the reasons I aspire to become a High School English Teacher!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite teacher was Mrs. Carmean in the 5th grade. She read novels to us every day and got me really into reading (it stuck for life!) She also made learning fun--we played Family Feud to practice our history and geography facts (wish I remembered them)!
ReplyDeleteMr. Collins my algebra, trig, and advanced math teacher was my favorite teacher. I think I liked him because I was teacher's pet in his classes. I was never really inspired by high school teachers. My inspiration came from my junior college professor later on.
ReplyDeleteI have had a few great teachers, but one of my most memorable favorites was "Mr. C" whom was my highschool human anatomy teacher. He was a great teacher because he easily related to his students. Everyone loved him because he taught high school students and he ACTED like a high school student. I remember no one would want to fall asleep in his class because he would shoot at you with a nerf gun in front of everyone in the class. Hilarious.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite teacher was my Environmental Sciences teacher because she had real world experience in her field and it made everything seem so much more relevant.
ReplyDeleteSadly, I don't remember his name. He was a Sociology professor at San Diego Mesa Junior College. He gave me the responsibility of taking care of the rats that we used for Skinner Box presentations, as well as solely doing the presentations in various classrooms for the whole semester.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite teacher was Mrs. Reed. She was my Pre-Calc teacher in high school. I enjoyed her because she was everything I was not. She was a great story teller and 'detail oriented' was not in her dictionary. Her classroom was full of random posters, photos of past students hanging out at school, and lots of school pride. There was not a section on her wall left untouched. She was never afraid to experiment with problems we made up for her. She encouraged us and made learning fun. There was never a day we didn't laugh as a class.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite teacher was my third grade elementary school teacher. Her name was Mrs. Plett and she made school fun. On Halloween, her twin sister, "Pletterina" would visit us. She also saw my potential as a mathematician and had me tutor my classmates. Because of her, I started to enjoy math.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite teacher was my AP US History teacher, Ms. Koda (cool teacher, although I don't care for history). She knew about everything and often gave me recommendations for cool music, movies, books, and graphic novels (all of which were awesome). She was a teacher who could really connect with her students, and she even helped me get my current job too! :^D
ReplyDeleteMy favorite teachers would be Ms. Daybell from 1st grade or Ms. Vinson from 4th & 6th grades. They were very friendly, smiled a lot, and rewarded us with candy!
ReplyDeleteIt has to be my Fifth grade teacher Mr. Oleary. He was the first person to ever ask me what I want to be and taught me to truly try hard in every subject. He was the first teacher that told me that knowing two languages was a gift and that it took a certain IQ. He was just a great teacher that understood life and was not afraid to share it.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite teacher was definitely Miss Borm! She was my Algebra teacher and my Color Guard coach for 4 years! She was super fun and loved teaching Algebra. Her excitement made the students excited too! We learned the quadratic formula sung to Jingle Bells :) We even invited the Principal to come in our class and watch us sing haha! Post high school, Miss Borm married Mr. Talbott (my Geometry and Pre-Calc teacher) and I got to go to the wedding! I think Miss Borm was also my parents favorite teacher of mine!
ReplyDeleteSam Posner, he was great!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite teacher in school was my second grade teacher Mrs. Wong. She even came out to California from Illinois to visit me and my family when I was in middle school. It was obvious that she cared about my success as an a student.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite teacher was DeeDee Halleck from UCSD, now retired. She is an independent film maker and I took a video production class with her. She really let me "think outside the box" and use my own creativity to the best of my ability. I appreciated the fact that she was so interested in different social/political issues for example feminism. She was also very interested in my thinking and my background. I believe the working relationship was intellecutally mutual.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite teacher was my 5th grade teacher Mr. Hildebrant because he used to let us take breaks during class and have art contests on the board. I won often so that made me feel good about myself since I was no good at sports. I will do this in my class sometimes too because it is fun for the students and a nice break from academics.
ReplyDeleteMrs. Edison was my favorite teacher. She was my special education Resource Specialist. She guided my IEP from 2nd grade till 4th grade. She taught me to both ask for help and to be independent. Moreover, she gave me confidence in my own academic ability.
