This week's Question: What is your favorite Painting or Piece of Artwork? Here is a look at mine, Picasso's Guernica, which I saw in Madrid!
My favorite artwork is actually architectural. Antoni Gaudi has done a lot of stuff in Spain but m favorite from his would have to be Guell Park in Spain.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite artwork and first to come to mind is "The Starry Night" by Vincent van Gogh
ReplyDeleteI'm actually not too cultured. I know the basics like the Mona Lisa and all that jazz, but I don't really know if I have a favorite painting. But I'm with Chelsea on the whole architecture deal. Skyscrapers and bridges amaze me. I haven't been to San Francisco, but I would love to see the Golden Gate Bridge. But as for pieces of work that I have seen, the architecture at Balboa park are pretty breakthaking.
ReplyDeleteI also love van gogh like christina- starry night and cafe terrace at night are some favorites :)
ReplyDeleteI also a big fan of monet's waterliliies...
I really like the pop art stuff such as Andy Warhol his work is so abstract and out there I love it :)
ReplyDeleteI love installation art, so maybe like Ann Hamilton. I love a ton of different artists though, can't pick one as my actual favorite!

ReplyDeleteI don't usually look at art too much, but I do usually like things by Van Gogh, especially Starry Night.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite piece of rt is actually the same as our professors. I also saw Picasso's Gurenica in Madrid, Spain. It is an amazing piece which was first shown to the world at the world peace conference. Gurenica is a Spanish city which was bombed by the ruling Spanish government at the time. Picasso used his work to uncover a social injustice.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite piece of artwork is Irises by Van Gogh
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite pieces is the painting by Diego Rivera called "Día de la flor." I love pictures that capture a particular culture and include children and mothers.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite artwork is anything by Thomas Kinkade because they remind me of going to my grandparens house as a kid. All of his paintings have hidden letters in them (I believe the letter "n" for his wife's first initial) and I used to love to be the first grandchild to find all the hidden letters in his paintings!
ReplyDeletevan gogh. irises. saw it in la. i also really like georgia o'keefe's work. saw an exhibit in san diego last year.
ReplyDeleteWell I really like to "Look" at all kinds of art, but the peiace that stands out ti me is "Starry Nights" by Vincent Van Gogh. I like this painting because it reminds me of the nights I used to spend out looking at the stars at summer camp, away from the city. The one thing about this picture is that the stars are so bright in the city, I sometimes wish we could see the stars so clearly here in the city.

ReplyDeleteMonet's Water Lilies, especially the large three-panel painting at the MOMA. I love the colors and the light in this painting and think it's amazing how huge it is.
ReplyDeleteI actually don't have a favorite painting. I love many different styles of art and appreciate many different artists. I like Picasso, Goya, Van Gogh and Kadinsky. I love the use of weird shapes and forms in art.
ReplyDeleteI love the watercolors of Susan E. Routledge. Her use of bright colors and her technical skills are phenomenal. I especially enjoy the playfulness of the painting on her website entitled, "Why Not?" where she paints hummingbirds outside the frame. I was lucky to meet her twice at the Open Studios Artists' Tour when we lived in Lamorinda, up north. Since I last saw her work probably ten years ago, it is way cool to be able to use the computer to see what she's been up to.
ReplyDeleteStarry Night by Van Gough
ReplyDeleteMy favorite painting is one of the many Biblical stories painted by Michael Angelo on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in Vatican City Rome, Italy. The one that I like the most is called "The Creation of Adam" because I love the fingers touching of God the creator from heaven to Adam his creation on earth. Angelo's talent is remarkable and I love his style of painting.
